This afternoon Holly and I were playing in the living room, having a conversation about her little lamby. It went like this:
Holly: I need to clip she's hair back to get it out of she's eyes.
me: Huh?
Holly: She's hair is in she's eyes.
me: You mean HER hair is in HER eyes.
Holly (looking at me like I'm an idiot): SHE'S hair. In SHE'S eyes.
(If she were about a year older she would have rolled she's eyes right then)
Holly is a pretty verbal kid, and I thought she had mastered her pronouns by now. But just in the last few days she's been experimenting with possessive pronouns, and I guess she must think you have to add " 's " to make something possessive. And "Her's hair is in her's eyes" must sound silly in her little mind.
Here's Lamby and the clip.
Holly would be MORTIFIED if I posted this picture without explaining that we'd just gotten out of the pool, hence the crazy hair.
